Candy Colors, Inspiration

I bought all of these pretty pieces at Sew to Speak in Columbus last week. I've probably mentioned it before, but good things are worth repeating, right? It's one of my favorite fabric shops in Ohio.
I don't know what I'm going to make with these but I love the candy colors : )

I know I've brought that up in the past too...you know those-"well I finally got a chance to work and didn't know what to make" posts...like here & maybe here and probably some more ....?
Well, I finally got a moment to get to work the other day and, guess what?! I didn't know what to make again. Surprise! ; )

Then I realized this: it's just like anything, you need to practice... unless I work for a few hours a day on something creative, at least several times a week, I seem to lose some of my inspiration.

I haven't really had a chance to work like that in about a year and a half either, or since we moved here. Ironic since now, I have the space.
I remember sewing up to 7 hours a day when I was sewing just for fun, in a little corner of my bedroom. Now I'm lucky if I can get an hour or 2 here and there.

It's creatively frustrating.
So, do I need to learn to stop what I'm doing and make something the minute I get a new idea? (Not always practical I know).
Or figure out a way to be creative even when I'm not sure what to do... or when I'm preoccupied by other things...
Maybe keep a sketchbook of ideas close at hand at all times~draw or write them out right away for later...
Sometimes it helps to just follow a pattern and make something for myself. At least I know something I spend hours on, will turn out alright.

Does this happen to you? How, or what, do you do to find inspiration when you're feeling unmotivated or uninspired?

This definitely happens to me too. Sometimes I have ideas that don't work out the way I planned, or I just can't quite figure out what to do with the supplies I have in mind.

I know we make 2 totally different things, but alot of times it helps for me to just start playing around with colors and different pieces and go from there. I have also started jotting things down when an idea strikes me and that helps!

oh it DOES happen and usually I get so inspired its driving me crazy and my fingers are itching and I have a list of "must do" that is soooo long and I just never seem to get around to the fun stuff. When you figure it out write a book, we'll all buy it! :-)

Usually when I stop what im doing to follow a "new" idea, it ends up in disaster. So I write down new ideas and run them trough to avoid mistakes that I overlooked the first time I had the idea. I suggest you write or sketch your ideas first!
When im uninspired (like these last few months) I stop trying to make. The pressure gets to me and I stop being creative :(
