Making Ice Cream

I bought an ice cream maker a few weeks ago, nothing fancy, just the cheapest one I could get at Target in case making ice cream wasn't as fun as we anticipated...and ordered all the books I could at 2 local libraries on making ice creams and gelatos...(Don't worry , if you're wondering where the ice cream books went, I have been returning them as we go thru them ;)

This one is chocolate~ though it's hard to tell by the photo :0  The recipe is just the one from the little instruction booklet that came with the maker. We used some really good chocolate~
and put a little sprig of mint from the garden on top.
We've since made 2 different types of strawberry.
Nothing better than knowing what you're eating contains just a few simple ingredients, and you know what they are!

As I find some favorite recipes, I'll list them here and maybe take some more (better) pictures :)

Have you ever made ice cream?

Oooh, you've read my mind! I really want to make homemade ice cream too and was looking at the machines at target last week. I've seen some amazing recipes on pinterest, and at a dinner I went to recently we had lavender ice cream made with goat's milk! The ideas are endless...

Yum! it looks wonderful! A friend just gave us her old ice cream maker and I've been dying to give it a try, but we've had rainy weather (which shouldn't be a deterrent). Any of the books you recommend?
