Black Friday ~Cyber Monday Sale
I'll be having a sale this weekend -11/27-11/30.I just reduced the prices on over half of my shop and further reduced some of my sale items!!
I'd love to sell a few goodies so I can make more! I have a lot of plans in the works.
Hope you had a great -safe-Happy Thanksgiving- ours was a real quiet traditional family affair with my family, my mom, one of my sisters and her new boyfriend. We even called our family back home in California with the web cam - that was real fun and made me a little less homesick.
Have a wonderful weekend-will you be out grabbing those sales? I definitely won't be the first one in line!

"Good Boy"

"Good Boy", is the latest zippered pouch in my 'Scrappy Fabric Collage' collection.
You might recall, I am challenging myself to use up as much of the fabrics and trims I have laying around here as I can, before I buy more. At least until December 1st ;)
I did slip a little ~ I had to go and buy some thread ~ but I'm allowing myself the things I need to finish projects ... I've been good otherwise.
I have several boxes of kid related fabric in my 'studio' and that was because:
- I used to make lots of kid's gifts and things for my girls.
- I can hardly resist the retro style children's prints in the quilting shops.
This pouch started out with a children's themed print, but I decided to make the little Terrier the main focus. Then while looking (o.k, digging) for something else- I found some fabric in my stash with 'dog words' and figured it would be perfect.

This pouch is a little more square than the rest. As you can see, it's big enough to hold pens and pencils!
You can find it in my shop here :)
In case I don't get back here before then, I plan on having a nice little sale in my shop from "Black Friday" through "Cyber Monday".Happy Crafting :)

Addiction

I just went through my stash of fabric and supplies this morning (i.e :also my checkbook :0) .
I had some inspiration this morning and then started to sort through fabrics to decide which to use...and realized I have way way WAY too much. I can't even think or find half of the things I have. I know I have things I don't even remember I have. Bags of things I buy and leave in the bag and discover with pleasant surprise later on. I quickly lost inspiration.
This has to stop. My checkbook tells me so too. I bought some fabric yesterday with the intentions of going into the store for one thing, turned out they didn't have, and left with stuff I didn't really need-o.k well I did need the bobbins...I just have a hard time leaving a (mom and pop) shop without purchasing something.
I went through the boxes of fabrics ~some I wondered why I ever bought.
Should I destash some more on etsy? Should I force (challenge) myself to make things with these fabrics? I think I wanna try that first. I'm up for a challenge. Maybe if I incorporate the pieces into a collage I might look at them in a new way and like them?
And how many purchases must one make at the Local Yarn Store?-again going in for one thing and coming out with another?
So here's my challenge. I've never been good with New Year's resolutions...So I'll try short term and somewhat flexible...then move on to something more 'difficult'. Until December 1st...no more supplies unless it's something I really really really need...like linings, zippers, or thread....That's it.
I know I can be more creative if I work with what I have. And I might even find some things in my own stash. 'Quel concepto' as I always say !
Do you need to challenge yourself too?

Scottie Dog Pouch and a hawk

Yesterday while walking Coco, I came upon some clumps of fur :(
It seemed to be a squirrel from the length of it-squirrels are one of my favorite animals.
I wondered what could've done it- remembering stories about coyotes that were seen around lately...
Later on my daughter came running in to tell me to come look quickly "there's a squirrel with an acorn out on our deck"...I ran and didn't get there in time. He was gone...hopefully hiding under the deck.
Then I saw why he escaped so quickly.
Up in the tree was what at first looked to be a penguin (!)-o.k I didn't have my glasses on and it is kinda far away...I was going by the size and shape plus the fact that it had such contrasting colors, enough excuses?...I grabbed my 'telephoto' camera lens and saw that it was a hawk-it was huge. I snapped a few pictures...only 'til now when I uploaded them did I see that there seems to be something (like a squirrel?) in his claws? Or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

Anyway, on to happier things....
Thank you for your well wishes. We seem to be doing better. My daughter with the flu and pneumonia finally went back to school today.I felt guilty but the Dr. said she would be good enough to go yesterday. What's the hurry? I'm never too anxious to send them off.
I did manage to make this Scottie Dog Pouch to go along with the "Scrappy Collage" pouches and bags -and notepads ....

He's in the shop now :)Have a Happy Creative day!

Something new for the shop

Even though my daughter has gotten 'the flu' and pneumonia this week -I have somehow found the time to craft.-Call it a need to escape for awhile....

There is nothing more exhausting than when you have sick kids. Trips back and forth to doctors, hospitals, sleepless nights...
When I got the chance these past few days-helping hands- I went to the 'studio' to take a break from the routine...
A few years ago I mostly did totes and bags. Somehow I found it easier to do smaller things for the shop, maybe a fear of selling larger priced items? Not sure. But I have lately wanted to make some bags to go with the pouches and this is the first one I added there. Another in my "Scrappy Collage" series.
This one has a bit of vintage and new trims and a mix of old and new buttons. These are so fun to make!
Don't worry- I do plan to feature other things besides birds on my bags and pouches ;)
...just as soon as we get better around here.
