Crocheted Hats

I have started up my holiday and birthday gift making spree. 

I have a lot going on right now and needed a project where I don't have to think too hard. Depending on your skill level and what you like to do,any project could be considered just that-one where you can sort of close your eyes and do it. 

For me, repetitive patterns with one or 2 stitches are pretty straightforward and 'easy'. I am a bit more inexperienced with crocheting and always have to count my stitches every row to make sure I'm on the right track. It isn't as straightforward as knitting is to me, but sometimes it makes a nice break in my routine. And I think the patterns I pick are pretty quick to stitch up, which is great for gifts.

This one is (sort of ) from the Crochet Boutique book by Rachael Oglesby.

I say 'sort of' because -it's supposed to be longer and slouchier.

My other plan is to use up the yarn I have on hand so I just crochet as many rows as I can and when I think I have just enough for the brim, I start those rows going until I think I have just enough for a pompom. Easy right?

Most of the yarn I have is super skinny so I have been making yarn cakes and using the center pull plus the end together, doubling the gauge. Which is part of the reason I can only make beanies, lol. I love this one. I have long since lost the label but I think it's an alpaca, and honey colored-a current color love. I may just end up keeping this one for myself. Let's see how slouchy I can make this one
